“When I started my HPDE journey with my 2002 BMW E46 M3, I started buying brake pads and rotors from Tirerack, they are a great resource for most drivers after all. I didn’t know better so I purchased Hawk street performance pads, thinking that a sports pad will be great for the track and every day use.”

This is my M3 in my garage getting its front brakes services.

If you are not familiar with HPDE, you typically get four sessions per day for 2 or maybe 3 days in a row. Each session is 25 to 30 minutes long where you are pushing your cars brakes to the limit.

This is me at one of the events at Summit point.

In my first year at the track, I ran out of brake pads twice, and always on the last day of my weekend (The last day is the best day in my opinion). Costing me at least 2 sessions total when there was literally no more brake material

Yep, these are my brake pads after a weekend, there was nothing left

At the following event, my instructor suggested I try PFC 08, Performance Friction Brakes. I went ahead and purchased the PFC 08 brakes for my M3, and what a difference that made.

These pads were twice as expensive as the Hawk pads, however they will last you a season, depending on how many events you participate in.

First of all, these pads work better as they get hotter, they start to grip like you have never experienced before. Your car starts to stop sooner and harder without ever fading. Fair warming though, these pigs can squeal!!! They make music all the time. I personally love it, I will be driving my M3 on the street and will apply the brakes early just to hear them.

This was when my friend Jason volunteered to drive me to the track :)
