What brakes to use at the track is obvious to most track drivers. Get track oriented track pads. However if you are a beginner, this may sound like overkill. You are paying at least $800 between seat time and some minor car prep. Not to mention a Helmet, Gloves etc... So asking a novice to spend another $700+ on brake pads plus install, I can see how that might go.

When I started my HPDE journey with my 2002 BMW E46 M3, I purchased sporty pads thinking that would be enough.
Guess what, I ran out of brakes before my last session of the weekend.
Next time I got Performance Friction brakes- PFC-08. My instructor had a similar M3 and he swore by them so I gave them a try.
I used them for about 5-6 days this time around. This was with a messed up Caliper that used up the inner brakes unevenly.
Here is what they looked like after 2-3 events.
The calipers did not do much better, they had to go too.
