Carry extra brake pads for your HPDE weekend

Be Prepared

Going on a weekend for an HPDE class requires preparation and readiness for the unexpected. You are supposed to check your car at a certified shop before the event. You are required to have good brakes and tires, nothing leaking and a car in good working condition. .

These are all required steps to get into the HPDE weekend.

Be ready for Mid-Event Maintenance
2 years ago, I had to end my weekend early two times, because I ran out of brake pads. I learned that I needed to carry extra parts to the track, especially brake pads, as they are the first part to go.

This year I was prepared and while I started my weekend on good rear brake pads, they we from last season and started to wear during the weekend and the next thing you know, Sunday morning tech inspection tells you to keep an eye on your rear brake pads.

Half way into Sunday I checked the brake pads with my instructor and we agreed that it would be best to replace them.

30 minutes later and in-between sessions, I changed the rear brakes and went back on track.

Here is a picture of me getting a little intimate with my M3 :)
